Along with rabbits, ferrets are declared as pests in QLD since In 1985. While there have been outbreaks of ferret in the wild, this has only happened in Tasmania and New Zealand, where the climate is way different to out sunny state.
I have contacted the Queensland Government numerous times but my questions are never fully answered. They have provided me with a document stating information on ferrets and their view on them. But they seem to push back the fact that there has not been one documented case of a group or singular ferret surviving in Australia (On the homeland).
The Queensland Ferret Welfare Society has provided a lot of information supporting ferrets as pets and why they should not be considered as pests.I feel that the main reason my argument is constantly pushed back because there is not enough support in this issue. So please, sign our petition, fight for rights for our furry friend!
