The current footpath is just a single track that is interupted when it crosses the main,Ngunguru Road at Sands Road, yet it is a frequently used track that links the Glenbervie community and the schools in the area with the main urban centre at Tikipunga. The current situation provides a safety risk as traffic tends to travel at great speeds along the stretch of Ngunguru Road just past Otuihau/Whangarei Falls. A proper Footpath/Cycle way would link the important tourist attraction of Otuihau/Whangarei Falls to the local Pehiaweri Marae and the surrounding sites of historical significance.
