This Monday is July 4, the day we celebrate our freedom. As you are enjoying yours perhaps you could take the time to think about someone who unjustly will not be:Clarence Elkins. Even though DNA evidence has cleared him; Clarence Elkins is sitting behind bars waiting for Judge Hunter to decided his fate. Judge Hunter has had this case since March (The evidential hearing was held on March 23 and 25Th). On April 7Th a MOTION FOR A NEW TRIAL POST HEARING BRIEF was filed. She has had since April 21st to decide.

On June 4Th, 1999, the life of Clarence Elkins changed forever. He was convicted of murder, attempted aggravated murder, three counts of rape, and felonious assault. The victims: Judy Johnson, Clarence's mother-in-law, and his then 6 year-old niece.
Unfortunately, Clarence was wrongly convicted and has spent the last 7 years imprisoned for a crime that he did not commit.
No physical evidence pointed to Clarence, and recent DNA testing has cast further doubt. The entire prosecution rested in the testimony of a then 6 year old girl, Clarence's niece, who has since recanted her testimony. More information on the case can be found on the Case History page.

Clarence should be free, they was told that he did it, by a scared an confused child, And police broke his civil rights.By not making sure that He was telling the truth He was an easy out for them to close the case.
