The judge said that the lack of evidence did not concern him.
The prosecution of these five Muslim men was based on "preemptive prosecution," the suspicion of possible future criminal activity, rather than on actual crimes commited.Prosecuting innocent people because of suspicion that they may commit crimes is highly illegal, and violates the Constitution and our legal tradition. That these prosecutions were directed at a particular religious group,Muslims in this case, makes the errors all the more offensive to American notions of justice.
No criminal activity would have existed at all but for the fictional conspiracy created by the prosecutors themselves. The charges and the proof agaisnt the defendants relied on guilt by association and on the demonization of free speech and lawful activities. These young men were convicted through the use of illegal wiretaps, secret evidence with held from the defense, and the entrapment of the defendants using criminals hired as "informants" to suggest activities for which the defendants had no predisposition.Prosecutors intimidated the jury with fear tactics, hyped pre-trial press conferences, exaggerated security precautions at trial, mistranslated documents, introduced phony expert testimony, and admitted irrelevant, but prejudicial material as "evidence."
Despite the fact that no crime took place, the men received severe sentences of up to life plus 30 years in prison.
I am requesting an investigation of this case by an independant counsel.I believe that an honest evaluation of all aspects of their arrest, conviction, and sentencing can only lead to one conclusion, that the Fort Dix Five are innocent!
