UCSB
We, the undersigned members of the UCSB community, ask that you defer decisions about how cuts are to be implemented till the community has a chance to hear and express itself at the next Town Hall Meeting. Please stand with us in supporting the future well-being of our university.
Specifically, we ask that you allow us:
1. To make furloughs highly visible, so that everyone can see, hear and feel the impact of these cuts. If we do not, we are failing to educate the citizens of California about the dangers that lie ahead.
2. To make furloughs time equitable, common and coordinated, in order to foster campus unity, work equity, and visibility.

If we hide our losses and suffer internally so that the students and public do not notice a difference in operations as a result of the furloughs and budget cuts then we have done a disservice to UCSB and all California citizens.

I urge UCSB and the folks at Cheadle, via the web page, press releases, et al., to make the impact of these cuts more visible and to articulate a vision of exactly what we are being asked to sacrifice for.
