29TH MAY 2011 WILL MARK MY 1,000 DAYS IN HOSPITAL.............
My name is Patricia Ingle & this is my story. I've been in hospital ( prison ) for 2 1/2 years & really want to go home. I have set up this page "Get Trisha Home" in hope that people all over will help me do that by joining this group & showing your support. I got sick in August 2008. I was rushed from ICU in Limerick Regional to ICU in Cork University Hospital. I was in a coma for a couple of weeks & my family were given no hope. Slowly I woke from my coma but was still very critical. As a result my recovery was very minimum. At the beginning my family were given minute by minute then hour by hour hope. Until Jan 09 I remained in ICU Cork where my family stayed by my side 24/7. I was then brought back to Limerick Regional in Jan 09 where I now remain as a patient 2 1/2 years onwards. As a result of what happened to me I am restricted to having a normal life. I have a wheelchair but I'm getting help with assisted walking, I don't eat or drink as I cannot swallow. I can talk with the help of a speaking valve. The main result of what damage had been done is been fully dependent on a portable life support machine ie ventilator. However this may sound worse than it is. I have done alot of positive things since been in hospital. Small things like listening to music, watching movies, reading magazines, playing word games with my sisters then progressing to such things as day trips to the shopping centre, going to the cinema with my family, meeting Jedward " yes thee Jedward", receiving a personal letter from the President of Ireland Mary McAleese & singing legend Christy Moore, going to dog shows, going out to watch Skyfest ( firework display ), having my story & photo in numerous national newspapers, been invited by a top London hospital for a week where I was escorted by hunky firefighters but unfortunately slept through the journey. The biggest positive thing that has happened to my family & I was the night i stayed over for both Christmas Eve & News Years Eve. Which is now the lead up to getting myself home to my family permanently. So this is the reason why I have set up this page to let everyone know what I went through & what I am still going through just to get home. So please invite your family & friends to join this page leaving your comments, suggestions & support in the "Get Trisha Home" fight. I have been in hospital a long time & now i feel enough is enough. I do get sad, frustrated & angry which isn't me. I am going to use this page daily to express my feelings & use as a blog, please feel free to send your support. Love Trisha xxx
Please help get me home.
