These World Championships in Oberstdorf were most boring ever!
50km mass start event was boring until the last 5 minutes as predicted. The first 2 hours and 25 minutes there was nothing to watch. If this would have been an interval start event, it would have been interesting from the beginning. Tactical masterplans in interval starts are more enjoyable than in mass starts. Where is a point in losing people's interest in cross-country skiing?
Also: mass start events don't give us usually the best athletes in that particular distance, but just athletes, who have had more luck at the finish-line and who are more impudent. Medals should go to those athletes who really deserve it in an honest competition (by that statement we don't want to downplay any achivement in Oberstdorf).
Broadcasting in interval start events were absolutely awful. If broadcasting company shows only skiers from their own nation they should be punished hard enough to not tempt to do this again. That kind of indifference towards viewers from other countries has never been occured in Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland or Estonia).
Sprints were made uninteresting by two major climbs. Sprints are about excitement at the finish-line, but only a few races were interesting until the end. It is strange to have climbs in sprints at the World Championships if there have been no climbs in World Cup sprint events. So it is unfair for athletes who were specialised in sprints to make them compete at a regular track.
We demand:
1. Only one mass start event in world championships or in Olympics (preferably Double Pursuit).
2. Interval start events in classical and free style (so that every excellant skier would have at least one chance for medals).
2. Broadcasting should be done by Nordic countries (so that skiers outside "homeland" would also be shown).
3. Sprint should be for sprinters (no need for to climb in sprint events as it would be a regular event).
4. FIS should listen what do athletes prefer (as it is known, in Nordic countries there are many skiers who don't like this boring mass start lottery).
5. Get rid of Ulvand and Capol as they don't represent athletes interests and also devoted fans of cross-country skiing.
