It is too late for London 2012, but I think this is something that needs to be taken into consideration as soon as humanly possible.
Guitar Smashing is a true sport in its own right. The act itself requires concentration, stamina, hostile precision. There are many different schools, and it's a fairly new discipline dating back to the early 60's. The smashing is dictated by the symbiotic relation between the athlete and the instrument. Any kind of guitar is accepted, but the instrument properties/weight should influence the vote - smashing a Gibson Firebird is the same as smashing a Fender Mustang. NOT!!!
At the core of the final vote result is the outcome of the slaughter itself of course. This should be scrutinized via the use of different camera angles and slow-motion.
Let's give this discipline its deserved place. The Olympic Games.
Pete Townsend shall be head of the jury.
Let your voice be heard. Keep smashing. Be brutal. Be hostile.
