"Hey, Good Lookin'" Soundtrack

This is a petition to release the soundtrack to the 1982 Ralph Bakshi animated film Hey, Good Lookin.

Over recent years the market for cult film soundtracks has grown ten fold and Ralph Bakshis films certainly represent a large cult following of their own. Theyre an important part of cinema history that still influence and fascinate Filmmakers and cult film fans to this day. As his films are now being re-released on DVD and reaching a whole new audience this represents an excellent time to provide his loyal fans with this product we have sought after and dreamt of owning for so many years.

Hey, Good Lookin features a completely original, yet fantastically authentic rock/rock and roll/doo-wop soundtrack performed by Ric Sandler and produced by John Madara. Who co-wrote such rock and roll standards as At the hop and You dont own me. It sadly never got a release at the time most likely due to the films lukewarm performance at the box office. Its quite reminiscent of the soundtrack to Grease but tougher and less schmaltzy but no less evocative of the musical era it so masterfully replicates. In turn, it also updates the sounds of the 50s with more professional production techniques and wonderfully retro late seventies /early eighties synthesiser sounds. In short, its catchy, memorable and easily deserving of at least a limited edition CD release.

I have been in recent email contact with Ric Sandler himself and he has indicated to me that with enough interest he would consider taking steps to releasing it. So I implore those of you who love this music to contact him and tell him so. He can be reached through his website where he is also selling his excellent new CD Rhythmunderground which has received universally superb reviews. Hes a great guy who has given me much information about the soundtrack but has in turn understandably explained without more requests it would not be worth his while to create an official CD release. So if you want to see a release, email him and tell him so. Otherwise this fantastic music, in its complete unedited stereo glory, will almost surely go unheard forever.
