HMA Technology Ban

We, the students at Hargrave Military Academy, have formed a petition to remove or alter the ban on particular websites. Many of us have complained and protested against the ban on instant messaging. We ask that you consider removing this or changing it in some way. Some of us are unable to contact family or friends through email or by phone. If you would lift this ban on times that we do not have academic obligations or on weekends, it would be greatly appreciated.
We have also noticed that certain other sites have been blocked also, such as Xanga and Myspace. These sites are specifically designed for us to keep in contact with our friends and family. There should be no reason that the Technology Team should ban these sites. Please consider lifting this ban also.
The last thing that we wish that you unblock are educational sites such as FreeTranslation.com. These sites are not able to translate phrases or complete documents as you may assume. They are purely word translators or online dictionaries. In some situations, even teachers recommend that we use these. Please consider the preceeding terms.
