Stephen Harper's government just announced that Canada will withdraw from the Kyoto Protocol.
The BBC quotes Environment Minister Peter Kent as saying, "$1,600 from every Canadian family - that's the Kyoto cost to Canadians (of meeting Canada's obligations under Kyoto), that was the legacy of an incompetent Liberal government".
There is no question that climate change is real, and that it will leave a legacy of problems for future generations in Canada and worldwide.
$1600 per household to save the planet and make positive, sustainable change is a deal and steal, especially when most of us won't even have to organize and implement many of these important changes.
If $1600 per household is all that's holding Canada back from doing what's intelligent and ethical, then let's not give the Harper government the excuse:
Please sign this petition if you are willing to pay $1600 for Canada to re-sign on to the Kyoto Protocol, and meet the targets necessary to meaningfully reduce the effects of climate change!
