I Support "My Brother's Keeper" as Part of the Solution

With all of the recent drama about the portrayal of African Americans on mainstream television today, and in light of the recent controversy over BET's new show "Hot Ghetto Mess", the filmmakers of the new provocative and socially responsible drama series, "My Brother's Keeper" (http://www.mybrotherskeeper.tv), feel that it is not enough to simply point the finger and criticize without offering some sort of plan for change; an alternative to the negativity.

We are not even endorsing the fact that shows like "Hot Ghetto Mess", "Flavor of Love", "Charm School" and the like do not have a place in today's entertainment; judging my ratings and immense media attention, they clearly do. We do, however, feel that all media should be balanced. You have to show the good with the bad, the positive with the negative, the socially progressive with the socially RE-gressive. "My Brother's Keeper", which tackes issues such as HIV/AIDS, sexual health and responsibility, drug abuse, treatment of women, wants to be a foot in the right direction.

What we are saying is it is not enough anymore to simply talk about the problem. We must start being apart of the attempt to change the problem. While we would appreciate your support, we ask that if not us, please, support something.
