We, the undersigned, students from the State of Illinois, draw the attention of the Illinois Legislative Assembly to the following:
THAT the State of Illinois ranks 49th in the nation in the proportion of funding it contributes to public education;
THAT the State of Illinois has the 2nd largest school funding equity gap in the nation;
THAT the State of Illinois funds its public education system through an over-reliance on property taxes;
THEREFORE, your petitioners (young people in the State of Illinois) request that the members of the Illinois Legislative Assembly support legislation for the enactment of school funding reform.
