NEET 2017 for admissions to undergraduate courses in medical and dental colleges will be held on 7th May 2017. CBSE, which is expecting about 10 lakh students to appear for the test this year, released the notification on Tuesday. The test will be conducted across 80 cities. While the test will be conducted in two more languages - Oriya and Kannada - Urdu is not included in the notification. Earlier, the exam was to be conducted in eight languages including HINDI, ENGLISH, GUJARATI, MARATHI, BENGALI, ASSAMESE TELUGU and TAMIL.
Muslims being a largest minority group in India, there are large number of Urdu medium students. How can they ignore such a large number of students? Why is the government having such a biased attitude towards the Muslim students?
Urdu was declared as their mother tongue by nearly 52 million people, over 5 percent of national population. Urdu ranked 6 in the list of national languages. It is a major language in six states namely Uttar Pradesh (UP), Bihar, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Jharkhand for a cumulative total 85.6 percent of Urdu population.
Due to biased attitude of the Maharashtra government toward Urdu, many students of Urdu may be deprived of medical study programs and many other courses. It is an open conspiracy against Urdu.
I request influential Urdu lovers, holding important posts in politics and business to please come forward to fight for the cause and our rights.
