My name is Monica Kincaid from Salt Lake City, Utah and I am petitioning the US Department of Education to change their policies on Mental Illness.
Apparently they will not discharge a student loan for mental illness stating that the psychologists/psychiatrists are not valid medical practitioners.
If a person was to have Heart Disease they would see a Cardiologist, if they had Cancer they would see an Oncologist, if they had problems with strokes or severe migraines they would see a Neurologist and a person with Diabetes visits an Endocrinologist and these would all be valid, therefore I do not understand why they do not view Psychological Professionals as valid for those of us with Mental Ilness.
I would not see any of the above for Mental Ilness as they do not specialize in Mental Health Diseases.
I have done my part and now the US Department of Education are unwilling to accept the paperwork I have sent them, changes need to be made in how they treat debtors in these type of situations.
Please join me in enacting a change.
