Keep After School Activities at BRRSD Intermediate Schools

Dear Dr. Schilder and the Board of Education,
We parents firmly support our childrenвs efforts to reinstate after-school activities at Eisenhower and Hillside Intermediate Schools, and commend them for taking the initiative to write a petition to you to that effect. We too believe that eliminating programs such as Drama, Robotics, Newspaper and Student Council will be detrimental to our childrenвs overall development, and urgently request that you continue to offer them. Our main concern is about preserving the opportunities available to Bridgewater and Raritan intermediate school students, but we also feel that cancelling these extra curricular activities will adversely affect how our School District is perceived.
If the Board finds it impossible to continue to fund or subsidize after-school activities, we, the parents, would like to suggest that the Board provide us with the opportunity to help support these programs by paying student activity fees for them. Precedent for this вPay to Playв procedure has been established at the Middle School and High School, and we would greatly appreciate this opportunity.
