Keep Evangelion Off Adult Swim

This petition has been created in response to hearing the news that you will soon be airing the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. Right now, the anime shows aired on the Cartoon Network could be primarily categorized in the action genre. This includes shows like Cowboy Bebop, Full Metal Alchemist, and Trigun. Neon Genesis Evangelion does include great battle scenes, and is a great sci-fi action show. The assumption would be nudity, references toward Christianity, and more would be removed to prevent some viewers from being offended. Too much editing would be an injustice but without it wouldnt it be a bit inappropriate? Where exactly would the limits be to the editing of an anime of this caliber?








This may not concern you so long as you get viewers, but with such a difference between this anime and ones previously aired is a large audience even guaranteed? Even the primary audience in Japan ended up being people in their late teen years and early twenties. This is a serious anime that could easily be a bit too much for Cartoon Network. Inuyasha is one show that is probably leaning more toward an age group of preteens or young teenagers and does well with the Cartoon Network. Even some of the topics that are replayed throughout the series like suicide and depression would not be age-appropriate for, more than likely, a decent portion of viewers. It doesnt even seem logical to air this show unless there is a plan to edit it greatly. That most likely being the case, the anime wont be held in the same light as it would be in its original form.








As you may very well know, there are many hardcore anime fans out there who enjoy watching anime that is exclusive to DVD and not found on television. The fact that more and more of their favorite shows are being broadcasted on TV can make them quite angry. Having these shows air on television causes thousands of fans to make their screen names and e-mails inuyashaluvr99087 and things of the like, and it gets quite frustrating after about the seven-thousandth person says Inuyasha is sooo hot, hes mine and no one else can have him.





This might seem a little selfish to try to keep others away from what can be called one of the greatest anime shows, but because it is so great couldnt anime fans just as easily purchase a DVD or maybe the whole series? In fact, the Platinum Neon Genesis Evangelion collection was released not too long ago with remastered audio and video. If this inspired you to add it to a line-up of shows, then it was nice of you to take notice to such a great show. However, because of the amount of editing that would be done to something so great and the widespread knowledge of an anime series that some hold dear, the following ask you to reconsider this decision.
