Save Savannah!

Girl Scouting was founded by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia in 1912. With the current merger, The Girl Scout Council of Savannah will lose its' identity. It will not even be headquartered in Savannah for the first time in our history.

Not having an identity in Savannah, is similar to Coca-Cola leaving Atlanta, or Hershey leaving Hershey, Pennsylvania. Another example: what if it were cheaper to move Walt Disney World out of Orlando and relocate to New Mexico? As you can see, heritage is extremely important to the viability of any organization.

GSUSA did a poor job during the last merger with incorporating our heritage into the new councils. This time, we want our voices to be heard that we do not want it to happen again.

Sign this petition to have your voice heard and Save Savannah. This council, and other historic councils threatened, should have been exempt from the merger because of their historic value to GSUSA and local history.

We want the Girl Scout Council of Savannah to retain its' identity through this merger and continue to be treasured as the founding place of Girl Scouting. Juliette Gordon Low once stated, " the work of today is the history of tomorrow, and we are its makers." To honor our Founder, lets keep the history that we make.
