Yesterday it emerged in the Sunday Mirror that 5 ACTORS/ACTRESSES from the BBC medical drama have been SACKED to increase ratings. They are: Sandra Huggett (Holly Miles)Ronnie McCann (Barney Wolfe)Donna Alexander (Penny Hutchens)Grant Masters (Dan Robinson)Michelle Butterly (Mel Dyson) Unfortunately, they will be missing from the new series (series 16) in September 2001. 'Casualty' recently got a new producer (Mervyn Watson) who decided to axe the above 5 characters. To 'increase the ratings'. What is the point in sacking probably the most popular character (Holly) as well as 4 others? These actors/actresses have given EVERYTHING to the show - years of work - only to be told they are 'unwanted' now. Now they are redundant - that is what they get in return for years of committment to the BBC. This move is described as 'one of the biggest shake-ups 'Casualty' has ever known'. We are not prepared to stand for this behaviour from Mervyn Watson. We realise that we will not be able to bring back the axed cast, but we are determined to get a FORMAL EXPLANATION AND APOLOGY FROM MERVYN WATSON. Please show your sympathy towards the axed cast and show that you are not prepared to stand for such unfair behaviour from Mervyn Watson and the BBC by signing this petition. Who knows, we may even be able to urge the BBC to bring the axed cast back before the new series (series 16) starts in September if we get enough signatures. THANK YOU! P.S For every complaint or petition signature the BBC gets, it counts as the opinion of 100 people in the UK. So get signing!
