Keeping Nude & Natural magazine in Barnes & Noble

The company operates 647 Barnes & Noble, Bookstop and Bookstar stores and
195 B. Dalton bookstores and Doubleday Bookshops throughout 49 U.S.
states and the District of Columbia. The giant retailer will record close
to 6 billion dollars in sales during 2004.
Public newsstand sales of Nude & Natural magazine are an important
outreach to those who are not naturists. Although a certain small number
of curiosity seekers may purchase the magazine hoping to spot something
salacious, they will find themselves quickly disappointed. The target
audience for newsstand sales is the genuinely inquisitive individual who
seeks to learn more about naturism. Naturists are harmed by Barnes &
Noble's selective denial of access to a valuable audience through its
large commercial channel.
Through a spokesperson, Barnes & Noble has said that it is responding to
the wishes of its customers. The corporation will not identify the
particular customers or group to which it is responding and has declared
that it will not discuss details of its distribution and stocking
decisions. There is speculation that the move came as a result of a
staged objection, not to Nude & Natural magazine itself, but to a
different publication of the same genre.
Two other periodicals were eliminated at the same time from the retail
shelves of Barnes & Noble: H&E Naturist and Travel Naturally.
The decision to deny naturist publications a significant channel to the
public must not be accepted quietly.

The above was taken from Bob Morton, The Chairman and Executive Director for the Naturist Action Committee and Dennis Kirkpatrick, the Online Representative for NAC.
My name is Paul and I'm a nudist, I'm a 20 year old college student. I work hard and study hard, normally I do not do things like this, simply because I lack the time. I've never started a petition. But when I heard of this, I immediately went to work on getting a petition set up.
Please help the naturist community and sign this petition to tell Barnes & Noble that the magazine made by nudists, but made for everyone, Nude & Natural should stay on their newsstands.
I leave you to sign this with one question in mind, and I ask this regardless if your are a nudist or non-nudist....Why should magazines that focus upon the human nude are only allowed to remain on the condition that they are associated with a sexual theme?
The staff of "N" Magazine work very hard to dissimilate nudism and sex. They work very hard to make sure that people should lose the idea of spending so much time and money in achieving the perfect body and gain the notion that they should simply love the skin they are in.
Sign this petition and lets educate the public of what nudism is...simply healthy and fun. Please make sure that all fields are submitted, including the city, and state. We want to show the public just where in the world we are all coming from. Also, I have kept the e-mail option private, but it would be really great to post your e-mail. I promise I will not submit it to anyone without proper permission. But if you do publish your e-mail, I Will do my best to write a personal thank you to make sure you know that your efforts have not gone unnoticed.
While signing this petition, we do ask that you give us your comments on the issue. And while your at it, if you don't mind, give us your insight about the idea of nudism itself. Again, lets educate the public!
