Scientology is a joke. It's a made-up religion based on a crazy science fiction story written less than a century ago. It's followers take themselves too seriously and are far too willing to make assess of themselves in public defending their religion. That's all fine, but the media devotes far too much coverage to the church of Scientology when there are far more entertaining and important stories in the world that are being neglected.

Tom Cruise is a joke. He has made himself a joke by behaving irrationally in public. The media devotes far too much time to covering the trivialities of his life, but that's fine, too. Some people enjoy celebrity gossip. However, informing the public that Scientology considers Tom Cruise its Christ falls squarely under the heading of more information than the public needs.

Media coverage of Tom Cruise and Scientology has become overblown and uninteresting. Perpetuating the comparison between legitimate religious figures and Tom Cruise goes so far as to cross the limits of decency.

To demonstrate the preposterous nature of the comparison between Tom Cruise and Christ, we are nominating a Christ for the Cthulhu Mythos to promote the comparison between Scientology and the Cthulhu Mythos. The Christ that we have chosen to nominate is Stephen King.
