Kings Beach Pedestrian Safety

North Shore Citizens and Visitors signing this petition recommend Caltrans implement the following traffic calming and pedestrian safety strategies on Hwy 28 in Kings Beach between Hwy 267 and Chipmunk Street by June 2007:
1. Pedestrian Crosswalks: Add new then maintain pedestrian crosswalks at the intersections of Deer Street and Hwy 28 and Secline Street and Hwy 28.
2. Curb Extensions: Add curb extensions at each and every crosswalk on Hwy 28 in Kings Beach from Hwy 267 to Chipmunk to create a safety zone for pedestrians.
3. Crosswalk Flag Program: Implement a crosswalk flag program at each and every crosswalk on Hwy 28 in Kings Beach from Hwy 267 to Chipmunk. Pedestrians will be guided to take a flag from a holder, hold it while crossing the street then replace the flag in the holder on theother side of the street when they arrive.
