[The Fourteen Amendment]:
Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.
In the spirit of the Fourteen Amendment and the Declaration of Independence, we request:
1. The Supreme Court of California as well as city and county courts sentence guilty parties fairly and equally according to the crime committed, regardless of race, sex, and class.
2. Reformation of the California "Three Strikes Law", as it is an oppressive legal program that can result in life in prison for conviction of minor & nonviolent felonies. The three strikes law disproportionately affects African American and Latino men, who are much likelier than Caucasians to be condemned for life by it.
This request is warranted by the reasons stated. These reasons satisfy the requirements for the California Judicial Branch, including the the Supreme Court of California as well as city and county courts to act fairly towards its citizens.
