I am a currently enrolled student of Santa Clara MBA program. It has been very concerning to me that even though, SCU MBA is a great program with very bright students and is perfectly located in the heart of Silicon Valley, yet there have been a lack of top tier companies recruiting at the campus job fairs.

I feel that the students career needs has been neglected due to the programs part time nature and the assumption that the graduating students would not leave their current employers. Even though the program has a very strong alumni network, it has not been used to full potential. There have been very limited career discussions, alumni networking events and exposure of students to the job recruiters. Result has been the sinking part-time MBA rankings, low career placement of graduating students and very few companies showing up at the job fair.

Most graduating MBA students are very frustrated /disappointed because after spending enormous amount of resources (time, efforts and money), they are facing the above-said issue that hinders their career development and career transition.

I understand that Santa Clara University has tried hard to develop MBA program into a top-notch program. To claim the full benefit of this MBA program, I respectfully submit my concern and request for implementing following suggestions:

1. To actively use Alumni network as part of the career development network. Student networks should be given access to Alumni network helping them to take leadership position in hosting alumni networking events.

2. To combine SCUs undergraduate and graduate career centers especially since the undergrad career center already have solid business connections and has more visibility to some major companies.

3. To encourage the staff (both faculty and high level administrative) to actively seek business firms (investment banks, consulting firm, venture capital firm etc.) for campus recruiting.
