We, the undersigned petitioners, are asking you for your intervention and assistance for the unlawful detention and attempted extradition of Mr. Bosjan Soba. He entered Canada in April 2006 as a refugee claimant who asked for protection from political persecution from Slovenia that has been instituted against him under the cover of criminal persecution.
Mr. Soba is a refugee claimant who has illegally been ordered extradition by the Minister of Justice, despite the lack of an extradition treaty between Canada and Slovenia and no applicable international agreement at all.
Mr. Soba has no charges, conviction, nor a criminal record, but has been in Canada in house arrest (bail conditioned) for 15 months and detained in a Toronto prison for more than 30 months, despite the substantial documentation from international human rights organizations such as Helsinki monitor, UN CERD, ARIS etc. delineating prosecution against him in Slovenia as political persecution and violations of human rights.
It is my belief that Mr. Soba is the victim of political persecution by Slovenia and unlawful process by Canada. As such, I implore that Mr. Soba be released from prison immediately and allowed to pursue his pending refugee claim and protection of his human rights.
I am aware of these circumstances and I wish to register my protest of such action.
