Lobbying for News Coverage of Virgin Islands Senseless Murders
Sign Now
We, the undersigned, would like to see national news coverage about friends Leon Roberts, 25, and Tristan Charlier, 24, who were murdered in the U.S. Virgin Islands. They were two professionals from New York who flew to the islands for a friends wedding. Sadly, they never made it to the ceremony. The two men were gunned down on June 15 and left to die at a bus stop in the Frenchtown area of the island. The killers have not been found.
The purpose of this campaign is three-fold. It is to A) help find the brutal murderers and B) to shed light on the under coverage of minorities who are victims of heinous crimes. Just as Natalee Holloway is missing in Aruba and her parents and friends mourn her absence, these two young men are equally missed by their families and friends. Leon Roberts fiancйe is devastated. Finding these killers would possibly offer some closure to this tragedy for the families and, importantly, prevent the criminals from striking again.
This brings us to our last point C, which is safety in the Virgin Islands. It has been reported that there have already been 17 homicides in the three-island Caribbean territory of 110,000 this year. With the media enlightening the public, the Caribbean authorities would be compelled to make their islands safer for the residents and visitors. We wholeheartedly support the people of the Virgin Islands and their tourism industry. We simply want it to be safe for everyone.
Thank you in advance for your coverage.
