Microcosm~Beyond Wall Street, A World Event

Our system of freedom is distorted and is becoming very perilous. When liberty is twisted into the hands of a very small number of the population, then our ability to "self-govern" becomes a complete and utter illusion. “The greater the disproportion in wealth between the rich and everyone else the greater the instability of an economy.” “The top wealthiest control all the political power and hold half the wealth.” The US, with its wealth of about $50 trillion, accounts for 25% of total world wealth, which at last check was about $200 trillion. Europe as a region has a slightly greater wealth portion (32%) than does America (31%).North America and Europe together make up the lion’s share of the top wealth deciles (10%). The economic crisis was not a spontaneous event, Wall Street created the investment products that formed gross economic imbalances and the 2008 credit crisis. It wasn't the hard-working 99.5%. Only Wall Street could put the economy in jeopardy and it had an excellent reason to do so: profit. It made huge profits in the build-up to the credit crisis and huge profits when it sold itself as "too big to fail" and received enormous government and Federal Reserve bailouts. Most of the serious economic harm the U.S. is struggling with today, was done by the top 0.1% and they benefited significantly from it. The wealthiest 1% reaped 2/3 of the economic benefits from Bush’s tax cuts. Cheney’s war-profiteering stock options continue to skyrocket, while many of us are now unemployed, just struggling to eat and pay rent. States across the country are reporting staggering increases in food stamp usage. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, last year the national increase was 18%; California’s food stamp usage has risen 30% since 2007. The year 2010 was a record year for compensation on Wall Street, while corporate CEO compensation rose by over 30%, most Americans struggled. In 2010 a dozen major companies, including GE, Verizon, Boeing, Wells Fargo, and Fed Ex paid US tax rates between -0.7% and -9.2%. Production, employment, profits, and taxes have all been outsourced. Major U.S. corporations are currently lobbying to have another "tax-repatriation" window like that in 2004 where they can bring back corporate profits at a 5.25% tax rate versus the usual 35% US corporate tax rate. Ordinary working citizens with the lowest incomes are taxed at 10%. "When a government is dependent for money upon the bankers, they and not the leaders of the government control the situation, since the hand that gives is above the hand that takes.... financiers are without patriotism and without decency..." Karl Marx A highly intricate set of laws and exemptions from laws and taxes has been put in place by those in the highest reaches of the U.S. financial system. It allows them to protect and increase their wealth and significantly affect the U.S. political and legislative processes. They have real power and real wealth. Can you imagine what the major corporations and Wall Street would do and what could be achieved with just three days of global non compliance? Three days of global non compliance by the people would cause a domino affect and hit the wealthy where it hurts- their pocket. Get yourself a supply of food for 3 days. Don’t go out and be a 'consumer". Don’t watch TV, don’t buy any gas, don’t buy alcohol or go shopping. Just do enough to keep the essential services operating. The only power that the ruling elite have over the peoples of the world is the power we ourselves grant to them. All that is needed to fix it and stop them in their tracks is for the people of the world to stand united in an act of Non Violent, Non compliance. The depression that is creeping across our world must be dealt with by the people, and dealt with very quickly. A unity of human spirit in an attitude of global non violent, non compliance is all that is required to win the battle and it needs to be done quickly while the people still have the opportunity to deal with the situation in a peaceful manner.
