Modesto High Distinguished Scholars' Graduation Rights

Modesto High School is one of the oldest schools in the State of California, and with that status comes a great number of traditions. These traditions are what set Modesto High apart from other schools, and we cannot afford to break them.
One tradition at Modesto High has to do with graduation. Distinguished scholars are allowed to sit in front, and are handed their diplomas first. These scholars are both International Baccalaureate Students, both Full Diploma and Partial, and California Scholarship Federation (CSF) members. These students have worked their hardest during their stay at Modesto High School, and earned the special privilege of graduating first.
This tradition is now in jeopardy. The young administration of Modesto High has decided to strip the distinguished scholars of their graduation privileges, forcing them to be called up to the stage for their diplomas strictly in alphabetical order, completely disregarding the work they have done for the school, and further stripping them of the special acknowledgement they worked for and wholly deserve.
This petition was created to show the administration of Modesto High that not only our hard-working students deserve the special recognition that they have earned in the past, but our traditions are too precious to be discarded as certain people see fit. Let us come together as a community that wishes to protect our traditions, and to recognize those who have earned our recognition.
