Mosquito Abatement Using Aircraft

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the West Nile Virus can cause serious, life-altering and even fatal disease. By now, we are all aware of this, and the fact it now has a strong foothold here in Idaho, and especially GEM COUNTY. People are infected and struggling with the disease and unfortunately some have died because of it.

Prior to the lawsuit brought against GEM COUNTY by one local organic farmer, GEM COUNTY has always used aircraft to eradicate and effectively control the pest. The fact is an aircraft can cover more area, treating areas that ground vehicles are simply unable to reach. Spot treatment is only one answer and by itself is not an effective means to control the pest. This is why ADA, Canyon, Elmore and other counties within Idaho and surrounding states still use aerial application along with other methods.

The answer is to act now and responsibly. It appears the lawsuit filed against GEM COUNTY was settled without the citizen's best interest and well being in mind. How many people must become ill or die within GEM COUNTY before action is taken? If it is you or your love one that is ill we know one is too many, especially when we have the knowledge our county could have done more to prevent or control the disease.

If you believe GEM COUNTY failed to responsibly act on its citizens behalf by stopping all aerial application for mosquito abatement, then we must demand that the county must start using aerial application once again as an effective means to eradicate and control mosquitoes.
