A request for a National Day of Fasting and Prayer to Almighty God that we may, with United Hearts and Voices and in Humility, seek Divine Guidance and Assistance for the Leaders of our Nation, our Military Forces, and to all those who labor to Protect and Serve our Fellowmen. Furthermore, we also petition the American people to donate the money that would have been spent for those two "Fasted" meals, whereby funding may be provided for people in dire need throughout the world, that their suffering may be eased by our offerings.
Following the example of our Nation's forefathers who "Fasted and Prayed" during the Revolutionary and Civil wars, we also desire to follow their example as we pray for Divine Assistance for "America's War Against Terrorism". May God grant us His Grace as we humbly repent of our sins and amend our lives according to His Commandments, that by doing so, He may bless us with Union, Harmony, and Mutual Confidence to prevail throughout these United States: That He will grant the Blessings of Peace to All Nations, Freedom to those who are in Bondage, and Comfort to the Afflicted: That He will be our Shield in the Day of Battle, our Comforter in the Hour of Death and our Kind Parent and Merciful Judge through Time and Throughout all Eternity and that He may give us that Peace of Mind which the World cannot give: That we may all come to a Remembrance that we are "One Nation Under God" and that with Him at our Head, we will not fail in our Purpose.
