National referendum before commencing State Owned Asset Sales.

Due to the overwhelming opposition to the National Governments desire to sell New Zealands remaining State Owned Enterprises it seems "democratic" to hold a "referendum" on this issue before proceeding.
Seeing as National received less than 50 % of the populations vote in the election just past they don't have the approval of the population to sell New Zealands remaining State Owned Enterprises .Therefore in order to comply with democratic principles a national referendum is necessary .
The cost of a referendum is small in comparison to the potential loss of our State Owned Enterprises .
This is a issue that has repercussions that extend well beyond the elected term of our current Government . Therefore "we the people" have a right to express our will .
