Dear Senator:
Protection against abusive child labor practices should not just be enforced in the United States, but should be practiced by any corporation importing goods into our country.
Top Fortune 500 company, Wal-Mart, has repeatedly violated child labor laws within the United States and continues to contract companies overseas violating the rights of children around the world.
Recent investigations into Wal-Mart and other popular stores revealed that children as young as 10 years old were forced to work in abusive working conditions, for more than a 10 hour work day, and for wages as low as 10 cents and hour.
Companies import these products back into our country for sale on American markets. Americans have the right to be informed of violations committed by popular merchandisers.
As a concerned citizen I wish to protect the labor rights of children in the United States and around the world. As an American consumer I wish to be protected and to have the freedom of knowledge to know the origin of products.
