It has come to my attention that the Student's right of privacy is being violated in a gross an unjust manner.
With the increased strees and tension in the higher gades of education, it is not uncommon for the student's to keep personal jurnals, some of which are carried with them, and kept on school property. The school in question, Thomas Jefferson Jonior High has grossly infringed on the rights of privacy and freedom of speech by inspecting these books and/or writings, and deeming a psychological evaluation simply from these writings. If such a thing was in place before columbine, perhaps great writers like Stephen King, whose works are full of murder and terror might never have been written, due to the "Mental instability of his writings."
In a entry to the ACLU home page, it clearly states that: "Other amendments protect our freedom to make certain decisions about our bodies and our private lives without interference from the government which includes the public schools."1
This means that we (students) can write what we want, when we want.
While writing bomb threats isn't a good thing, what about writing about a DREAM where we sent a bomb threat? There's no bomb, no threat, and no reason for any sort of leagal repercussions. This way of artisic expression helps us vent anger and frustration, and even prevents serious things, like REAL bomb threats and even school shootings like Columbine.
This petion is to promote this right of privacy. Please sign your name below if you want to uphold this right and let the goverment and public school officials know that they can't take away our rights, no matter what they think our mental status is. After all, Albert Einstien was a retarded failure, before E=MC2.
