The New Plymouth District Council wants to evict Oakura beachcomber, Eric Brewer, from his driftwood home on Tapuae Beach, that he has occupied without trouble for around 16 years. The council said it initially advised Mr Brewer on March 6 2013 that he was using the land without council permission and in so doing breaking the Reserves Act and the Public Places Bylaw 2008.
Now, considering he has been there for around 16 years or so, why are they only now just bringing this to his attention? Why are they only now asking him to leave? Many of the local community believe that Eric should be left where he is. Please show your support by joining us in this petition to our local council, opposing Eric's eviction!
