We the average (non know it all self righteous) people of the United States of America ask that those movie stars and has-been movie stars alike that fancy themselves as political activist please cease and desist your anti-war efforts immediately. We ask that you stop driving a wedge into the unity of the American people. Please stop imposing your views on us. Your celebrity status doesnt make you experts in the ways of politics. In particular, we ask that the following people go back to entertaining and leave the politics to those that are in office.

Mike Farrell
Anjelica Huston
Kim Basinger
Matt Damon
Laurence Fishburne
Ethan Hawke
Uma Thurman
Jessica Lange
Samuel L. Jackson
Martin Sheen
Tim Robbins
Susan Sarandon
Barbra Streisand

After 9/11 Many of the people mentioned above spoke out against the war against the Taliban and Al Queda. They naively wished for peace while a nation of people determined to wipe out our way of life continued to train and to develop the ways and means to destroy us all. This is the same government that would never allow these liberal Hollywood types to live the lifestyles that they have chosen for themselves. Ironically, many of these same actor/armchair politicians were very critical of the US Governments efforts to protect the American People before 9/11. They complained because they thought not enough was done. When the US Government took a more proactive stance in the post 9/11 world, they still complained. What would they have us do?

Should we go over and hug our terrorist friends? Should we drop care bear dolls from our B-52s instead of bombs? Really, what realistic solution have any of these geniuses offered up? These terrorists have to be stopped. All the good intentions of a few actors wont change a thing. I imagine they think they can fix the worlds problems with out politicians that have to make the hard decisions and without the Airmen, Marines, Soldiers and Sailors that have to do the hard work. That probably come from getting whatever they want as famous people. Theyre probably use to getting things handed to on a silver platter and being told yes and never no. Well Im sorry, but in the real world things work differently.

And now we are on the brink of war with Iraq. A nation we know has the desire and means to do us great harm. Iraq, a country that has mocked international law for over a decade. A nation that rivals Nazi Germany in the ways of inhumanity. And these Hollywood friends of ours would have us do nothing. They would have us allow Saddam to develop more weapons, to use them or to sell them to the Al Queda or some other group of hateful people. They again criticize President Bush, despite the excellent job he has done to secure the United States. He's successfully rallied the global community and brought UN weapons inspectors into Iraq to disarm Saddam. Sure, he threatens to attack, but it is this strong military threat that makes Saddam listen and gives a backbone to the UN resolutions.

I think it's safe to say we all hope for a world of peace with out war. A place where we don't need to send our troops into battle and a place where innocent men, women and children don't die. Those ideas are all well and good, but to stick to that view point and to not except that at times war is the only avenue is naive and childish. War, in the case of Iraq is probable but not definite. Mr. Bush and the UN are working to a peaceful resolution. But we must be realistic and we must be ready to do what needs to be done. Different view points are great, thats one of the freedoms we enjoy in the USA. But what these people are doing only works to undermine our sense of unity and portrays a divided nation to the rest of the world. The views of a few famous people seem larger than the views of your average American but thats only because they get the media spotlight. I know this petition wont do a thing. I know these celebrities will not read it, and even if they did, it wouldnt change a thing. But I just wanted to tell them all to shut the hell up. Im so sick and tired of them thinking their view points matter more because they have fame. They think that they can do a better job of running the country because they can act or sing. Our society has given these people too much clout and their egos have over developed because of that. Theyre actors for Gods sake, not teachers, scientist or any other big thinkers. They dont even have real jobs! Its like a court jester telling the king how to run his kingdom! Well, this is my way of trying to level the playing field, to take some wind out of their sails and letting them know that their crap stinks like the rest of ours. Please quiet down and let the politicians and generals do their jobs and try to stay out of the way! Go back to juggling little jesters or just sit quietly in the corner and behave!

Thanks,
IG-88
