Some facts for kind consideration of donors, well wishers of TRDP
Things in NGOs world have changed. NGOs turn from development activities towards the micro credit has nearly ended the role of NGOs.
Organization like Thardeep is also facing crisis. A number of sincere, skilled, professionally sound and hardworking people have left this organization. They were forced in one or the other way, to resign or were sacked forcibly.
A scandal has gripped this organization after mysterious disappearance of its officer Mr Sikiladho Rahimoo. Matter went up to police and media also published reports, but mystery could not be resolved. Reporters of Umerkot were silenced by greasing palms.
This is no matter of Dalit or lower caste, rather an attempt to embezzle millions of rupees in the garb of Dalit.
Record of Thardeep is witness and people of Mithi too, that the first victim of TRDP police use was a Meghwal of Chelhar and then some more Meghwals of Islamkot. This exposes the hallow claim of so called plea of fictitious supporters of Mr Sono.
There are more details of this changed policy and attitude of TRDP administration. Why Dr Allah Nawaz Samoo a highly professional and competent person one of the founder of TRDP left its brainchild organization. Mr Hameed Diplai, Mr Ram, Zebunisa and others left or were compelled to leave TRDP
It is regrettable that an NGO activist was kidnapped, but this issue was not raised at any forum by the big NGOs, who otherwise have been raising voice against different excesses. This also raises questions that TRDP administration, cooled down other NGOs not to indulge in the matter.
The matter is being discussed on mailing lists and internet groups. Reports are as under:
The social activist Sikiladho Rahimoo was mysteriously missing for forty days. Sikiladho was working with Thardeep at Umerkot office, engaged in advancing loans (Microcredit).
His disappearance remained mysterious as according to his family members, he left for his regional office, carrying two pairs of clothes, and paying one month domestic expenses to his wife. Later he claimed that he was kidnapped on behest of some TRDP officials.
When he did not return after three days, it created suspicious. His family member visited Thardeep regional office and met with Abbas Khoso, regional in-charge of TRDP and one of the fast friends of Sikiladho. He had no proper reply to offer to the relatives of Sikiladho.
Sikiladho's family members were surprised to see that Khosos fast friend was missing/kidnapped but he was sitting satisfied. (He was also his subordinate and staff member) he should have worry about it. Sikladho's family members asked him to go with them for lodging a case about his disappearance.
Abbas realized the situation and said case should not be registered and assured that Sikiladho will return soon.
On second day when Sikiladho's relatives reached Umerkot police station for lodging an FIR, they were surprised that NC that is non congnizable offence report was registered by Khoso and Wali Rajar a retired DSP specially hired by TRDP to harass poor Thari people.
They insisted that a case of kidnapping against Thardeep officers should be registered, but police refused.
In the meantime, Abbas khoso approached Arbabs and said that
Rahimoo people were lodging case against khoso. Abbas Khoso is in
Arbab group. So Arbabs saved him.
At one staged family members were considering to go to court.
Here too politics and government indulged in the non-govt sector. Rahimoo community which is one of the largest communities in Thar and are in league with Arbab Group came for rescue of Thardeep. Hence Police was directed to hush up the case.
Later some notables of Rahimoo caste approached Thardeep chief Dr
Sono and asked to help them as Sikiladho was his employee. His reply
was not satisfactory. He said if he does not comes in a week time
they will issue notice, get it published in newspaper and terminate
him from service.
Where problem lies
1. Dr Sono did not issue any notice against Sikiladho and he was not
terminated.
2. No case was registered by Abbas Khoso or Thardeep
3. Thardeep people were sitting calm despite an allegation of
kidnapping of a person.
4. People of Sikiladhos community were agitating to know his wherabouts.
5. Thardeep people including Abbas and Dr Sono did not visited Rahimoo family not for a one day.
Different Views
There are and different views in Thar:
- that Sikiladho has been kidnapped by Thardeep people, as a heavy amount of loan was out standing, distributed through him. Till the time this amount is not recovered he will not be released. This amount is said to be 30 lakhs.
- Sikiladho is complainant in some 15 default cases of loan, while others over 30 cases are registered through retired DSP Wali Mohammed Rajar.
- People of Thardeep are of view that Sikiladho, Abbas Khoso and a woman officer Miss Noor Memon of Thardeep were involved in the corruption and they had embezzled a huge amount.
- There is a strong view within and out side Thardeep that whole story was drama. According to them, Thardeep has got millions of rupees from PPF on account of Micro Credit. Now it was showing a huge amount as default to the donor and wants to get this entire amount to be written off.
- If Thardeep people were not involved in the kidnapping why Dr SOno, Abbas Khoso some other senior or junior officials did not go to Sikiladhos home?
- Why they did not formally lodged FIR and help to search Sikiladho?
- Why no one had come with clarification about the protest by kidnapped TRDP officer, press conference of his realtives,
- TRDP has nothing to offer comments when Sikiladho, recorded statement before police, held press conference, and later lodged FIR?
- If at all Dr Sono was not involved in the whole drama, why he did not disassociated himself from Abbas Khoso who was supposed to be main culprits or main bone of contention?
The issue is purely embezzlement, corruption, human rights and social audit. We will request you to kindly consider points keeping in view the facts.
