We, the people of Kilmichael and surrounding areas, request that the Bishop of Cork
and Ross allows Fr Cremin remain in our parish.
We are well aware that priests and parishes are being parted from each other
regularly; however, we ask that Bishop Buckley will consider why our case is unusual
and different and pray that he will allow Fr. Cremin to remain with the parish at least
until proposed National Diocesan reorganization has been finalised and the future
status of our parish is clearer.
Five ‘special’ factors in this situation which, together, no other parish can
match:
1. Kilmichael is almost certainly going to be without a priest in a few years’ time.
Why make a change now?
2. Fr. Cremin is a key leader in our Suicide Awareness Programme. Our youth trust
him.
3. Fr Cremin is at the heart of all community organisations in the Parish
4. The parish which depends on him for a substitute priest also happens to be his
native parish.
5. Fr Cremin was already curate in Kilmichael and is of Kilmichael ancestry. This is
an advantage to him and to us.
