Ireland currently imports 100% of it’s coal and oil along with 97% of it’ gas. These fuels are the building blocks of all goods produced and services provided in our economy. The fact that we are paying import prices at the initial stage of economic process leads to a loss of competitiveness throughout every phase of economic activity. Hydraulic Fracturing is a great technology that gives us access to our onshore gas deposits which can be used to enhance our competitiveness , reduce imports, pay off the national debt and create jobs.
