I, Dr.R.Baburaj request you formally on behalf of my colleagues in the United Kingdom to recognise the Psychiatry membership exam. It was very encouraging to note that the Mrcp [Medicine] and Frcs [ Surgery] have received recognition by the Indian Government. We, as Psychiatric trainees undergo rigorous training for three years . the posts are recognised training jobs, during the course of which we receive adequate clinical supervision from senior Consulants . The Membership exam in Psychiatry [ Mrc Psych] is taken after 30 months of training. It is a difficult exam which consists of two parts with practical exams in both parts. I request you to consider recognising the membership degree in Psychiatry which will give a lot of us important responsibilites to ponder about with regards to doing research or even providing good service to our people if we decide to come back to our Motherland. I am sure that this recognition will give many doctors in Psychiatry the much needed impetus to serve our nation.
