Conservation V Its up to YOU!
The coastline side of the historic Father Troy Trail should continue as Conservation Zone. The land currently under threat is on the north side of Torbay Bight, at the end of Moore's Valley Road and the Battery Road, and is locally known as "Dominion Hill". It has been formally protected by the town of Torbay since its first Municipal Plan in 1978.
We are firmly against any rezoning of lands next to the Father Troy Trail from "Conservation" to "Residential." We believe such re-zoning will ultimately lead to the destruction of the irreplaceable character of this trail, the area, and its unimpeded panoramic view, which has been enjoyed for hundreds of years.
Letters have been sent to the Torbay Town Council from a number of concerned parties reminding Torbays Town Council of the importance of maintaining Conservation zones, citing Torbays own 2007-2017 Municipal Plan.
