PS3 Backwards Compatibility

We as devoted console owners, prospective owners, and fans would like to make known to you our aggravation at the removal of backwards compatibility from the Playstation 3 game console. Many of us bought our systems under the pretense that we would be able to use it for all of our Sony gaming needs only to find that the backward functioning has been removed. We understand that in these trying economic times it makes good business sense on your part as a company to remove certain features from your product to be able to offer it to the consumer at a reasonable price and still remain profitable. It is for this reason that we are not asking for full backward compatibility hardware to be re-implemented, what we are asking for is a long hard look into bringing options for it back. Possible options that could be implemented are a boot CD for PS2 games or software emulation patches for games that can be downloaded upon booting of a PS2 game. We understand that this could take some time but as the PS2 starts to look less appealing and more gamers opt for a next generation system a lot of them are looking to move from the PS2 to the PS3 and the prospect of having to hang on to both systems is not as appealing as having one system that will play our entire collection. Also, with the implementation of a boot CD for PS2 games it would keep the cost of the physical console down while offering a separate add-on option for those that wish to have backwards compatibility.

It's an outrage that we cannot play ps2 games on the ps3! Even if they would cost more than a regular ps3, by all means, I would buy it!
