Public Footpath 93, Margam Burrows Public Path Diversion Order 2011

We the undersigned, wish Neath Port Talbot Council to consider the planned closure of public footpath No.92, known locally as 'Longlands Lane', which allows local people access to Morfa Beach. Any planned diversion must be justified for the benefit of the community, and not, as expected for the commercial interests of Tata Steel, who will no doubt use the diversion as a means to expand the existing waste tip onto farmland and fields. We demand that the Council disclose the full reasons for the diversion, and if there has been planning application for industrial expansion in the area by Tata Steel, this is provided on request. Morfa Beach is an area of open space used by walkers, bird-watchers, families, surfers, campers, etc. Any attempt to restrict access to it must be stopped -unless there is significant justification for it (e.g. health & safety grounds).
