Your Honor,
On Friday, the 15th of January 2010, the tenants of WOW Cafe and Wingery (located on 17 N. Eutaw Street, Baltimore, MD 21201) were abruptly evicted from their business.
We, the undersigned, kindly request from your Honor, who has considered rehearing this case on Tuesday January 26th at 8:30am, to consider the lives of those directly effected by this decision.
As attorney Marnell Cooper will be presenting the facts of why the tenants (JAJ Foods, LLC) were wrongfully evicted , we hope with this petition , your Honor will able to see that and entire town of students, doctors, lawyers, civil engineers, local small business owners, local small business employees, grad students, government officials, state employees, blue collar employees, retired senior citizens, sports fans, jazz enthusiasts, and local residents who have lost what we consider to be a second home, source of great food and nourishment, and the necessary release from the daily grind of the hard-working American citizen.
The area of Eutaw Street between Camden Yards and the Lexington Market has become somewhat of a ghost town due to the continuous closing of small business and we, the undersigned, believe that WOW Cafe and Wingery is too important to our daily lives to become another statistic. In this economy it is a horrific idea to think that someone that has paid their debts should be shut down in the way that WOW Cafe and Wingery was on the 15th of January.
Furthermore, your Honor, please consider the lives of the 30+ employees of WOW Cafe and Wingery who are now unemployed in this disastrous economy. The undersigned will include these employees. These, now distressed employees, are local students trying to support themselves, fathers, mothers, graduates of the STRIVE program, working class heroes, former restaurant patrons, international work visa holders, and people who have faced hardships in the past who have been given a second chance at life with the employment opportunity they have earned at WOW Cafe and Wingery.
Your honor, we hope that you are able to consider the many lives that this decision has affected and will continue to affect if the decision to keep WOW closed up, locked, and boarded is upheld. There are good people that will lose more than just a restaurant if Avalon Bay is permitted to unjustly force the Alexander family out of the dream they have worked so hard for and the sanctity of a safe and loving family owned restaurant they have provided to our daily lives. The Alexander's are not behind-the-scenes" restaurant owners. They are, at any given time, in the forefront of the restaurant as if they were also patrons of this beautiful establishment. They consider us to be like family and we consider them as the same. Please, kindly consider re-opening our favorite local restaurant so that we may continue to support good people, doing good business in our struggling economy
Please accept our best wishes and thanks for your attention to this important request.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned
