Reduce Traffic Speed in The Wilbrahams

The Parish Plan of Great Wilbraham, Little Wilbraham and Six Mile Bottom highlighted many concerns from residents about speeding traffic in our villages.
On the short stretch of road between Great Wilbraham and Little Wilbraham, the speed limit is currently 60mph, which then changes to 30mph on entrance to either village. The adjacent footpath is a route to school for children from Little Wilbraham.
Great Wilbraham and Little Wilbraham Parish Councils are going to apply for funding from Cambridgeshire County Council Local Highway Improvement scheme to achieve the following:
- Reduce the speed limit between the villages of Great Wilbraham and Little Wilbraham from 60mph to 40mph.
- Extend the 30mph speed limit at The Lanes, Great Wilbraham, to incorporate No. 42, The Lanes (The Grange). The current 30mph speed limit signs are only about 100 metres away from the Primary School.
These measures would slow down traffic as it approaches both villages, improving safety of pedestrians and road users, essentially, outside Great Wilbraham Primary School and on the sharp bend entering Little Wilbraham at Rectory Farm Road (where there is a history of road traffic accidents). The extension of the 30mph area in The Lanes will give drivers more time to lessen their speed before they reach the "Give Way" sign and narrowed highway outside the school.
