We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to
Review the decision under the Identity Documents Bill 2010 to NOT issue refunds, to citizens who have purchased a ten year National ID card.
It is proposed that the UK National ID card scheme is to be scrapped under the bill. It is also announced that refunds will not be provided for current cardholders.
Cardholders who voluntary entered into the scheme, paid 30GBP per person, to receive a National ID card with a ten year validity period. Most of these persons purchased and received the National ID card in early 2010. It is envisaged that the bill will be passed around August 2010, with cards being cancelled one month after the bill is passed. This will mean that persons who paid for a ten year National ID card will have there card made invalid in under one year of receiving it.
Therefore we believe it is unacceptable, not to offer ID card holders a full refund for the fee they paid for the card. We urge Prime Minister David Cameron to offer all card holders a full refund, if the Identity Documents Bill 2010 is passed, and the ID cards are made invalid.
