Reinstatement of Puttaparthi Narayanacharylu's Statue

Puttaparthi Narayanacharyulu was a wellknown Telugu poet laurate. He wrote several books in Telugu. Sivatandavam is one of his greatest books. He was rewarded with the Title, Saraswateeputra. After doing distinguished service to Telugu language, he died in 1990 at the age of 76 years. A statue was set up in his memory at Prodduturu town in Andhra Pradesh, India
On 9 September 2006, the local MLA of Prodduturu planned to have this statue removed against the wishes of the people of Prodduturu, to make way for the statue of Indira Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India. People in large numbers, protested this move of the MLA saying that the Sri Puttaparthi is the Son of the soil of Prodduturu and one of the greatest Telugu poets of all time. Irrespective of the strong protests, the MLA went ahead with his plan and got the statute removed with the help of the local police.
The place at which the statue was erected is known as "Puttaparti Circle" in his memory. The MLA now wants to rechristen it as "Indiramma Circle".
This move of the MLA is outragious and an insult to all Indians as a whole. This petition is to gather support for the protestors and to demand reinstatement of the Poet's statue at its original location and to retain the name Puttaparthi Circle.
We request you to intervene in this matter, reinstate the Statue and refrain the MLA from rechristening the place.
