The following petition is hereby set forth in the name of The Fans, The Enthusiast and Supporters of Alabama Football. For many years the statue of the late, and great Coach Paul W. Bryant, has eloquently stood guard near the entrance to Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama. As with all things commonly effected by time, the heritage and tradition of the once grand stadium has faded into it's twilight years. This petition is not sponsored in any way by the University of Alabama, but by the undersigned fans and supporters of Alabama Football. It is the fans who filled the "Football Capital of the South", and made it a grand venue to watch Alabama play, that now request the statue be permanently relocated to Bryant Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Many petitions invoke a sense of protest, some to display angry and others to express dismay. However, this petition is brought forth with the compassion and gratitude owed to the community leaders in Birmingham, Alabama. The Alabama Football community were blessed, and will always hold dear those autumn days in which Legion Field and the City of Birmingham hosted such memorable moments in Alabama Football history. Coach Paul W. Bryant once referred to The University of Alabama "as home" in a very special way. It would honor his memory and we believe......his wishes, If the fans and supporters of Alabama Football could be granted this wish. From the gratitude of all parties concern, the undersigned list of participants do hereby wish the approval be granted.
