Request to adopt the country name to "Bharat" only.

I would bring proposal to adopt the country name from India to "Bharat" only, to have a unique only one name. India is not our own but from the colonial past. The history is that where ever the colonies were established, the natives were called Indians (be it Red Indian in America, or Indians in Australia, or else where). To the colonial powers, natives (Indian) were uncivilized, uncultured, and illiterates. Do you want to be represented that way by being called/known as Indians?? I think its high time, we should look back our rich history and our proud culture, and to be called Bharatiya as a citizen or Bharat as a country. Bharatiya may sound odd, difficult get used to - but believe me, once you are used of Bharatiya, you will feel more proud than been called as Indians! Changing name of country sound difficult but not impossible, many countries have done it before - like our neighbors - Srilanka (Ceylon), and Mynamar (Burma)... so it can be done.. I know so far we have been known to outside world by India and Indian - but believe we will not loose any thing (progress or identity) if we known by Bharat or Bhartiya ... it will be same after a while ..remember when Bombay was changed to Mumbai - do you feel Mumbai wala lost their identity in world or in India - same goes for Chennai, even for Srilanka, which Ceylon and Srilanka earlier. We are still young as a free nation - not too far from our colonial past, so it should be fine if we change our name at this stage. If you known by your own name, you will get more people interested in you and your culture - same, I believe, will happen if India become Bharat - more people want to know the Bharatiya culture (then Indian culture, which sound obvious!!!)
