We, the citizens of Hubli-Dharwad, collectively thank the government for the effort to have Mr.Manivannan Ponnaiah as the Hon.Commissioner of HDMC, at a time when the twin cities administrative entity was written off by all conceivable standards. It was a blessing to HDMC, to the citizens of twin cities and the region.

Under his able administrative capabilities, he has infused a sense of responsibility within the ranks of the HDM Corporation, apart from championing the transparency, streamlining of digitization of information across the board, addressing the unauthorized encroachments, to name a few.

Today we are proud to have the credit of achieving the only ISO certification within the state of Karnataka, for HDMC, an unparalleled distinction, that could not have been even thought of couple of years ago. This coveted accreditation from an international agency is a clear stamping for the quality that has been bestowed to HDMC, under Hon.Commissioners able administrative efforts.

Probably the single most important project that has been implemented in HDMC has been the formation of the Citizens Committee Groups. A first of its kind of effort, probably never heard of within any of the major metropolitan administrative efforts. This project is expected to pave the way for the public participation in the functioning of their City Corporation. A new beginning has been made.

At a time when the twin cities is attracting interest from the IT / Manufacturing majors like, Tata Consultancy Servicess approved SEZ for twin cites (http://nageeta.blogspot.com/2006/08/sez-for-hubli-dharwad-jaykay-cements.html), Tata Motors approval for modern bus manufacturing facility in Dharwad (http://www.myiris.com/newsCentre/newsPopup.php?fileR=20070507071642126&dir=2007/05/07&secID=livenews), the recent proposals for the expansion of Hubli-Dharwad airport (http://nageeta.blogspot.com/2007/05/land-acquisition-to-expand-hubli.html), the pending implementation of JNNURM for the twin cities as promised by Smt.Sonia Gandhi (http://nageeta.blogspot.com/2006/09/jnnurm-project-for-hubli-dharwad.html) the Hubli Dharwad Municipal Corporation needs to have an able, authoritative and dedicated Commissioner.

We are witnessing the assuming of Spl. Commissioners position within HDMC in Mr.Ajay Nagabhushan very recently. Also we are aware of the possibility of transferring of Mr.Manivannan Ponnaiah to some other official duties, within the states bureaucratic set up. The efforts that have been initiated by Mr.Manivannan Ponnaiah, alongside of the impending tasks of developmental activities within Hubli-Dharwad, need to be carried forward with the same sincerity and we are affirmatively convinced that only Mr.Manivannan Ponnaiah can deliver, to the satisfaction of everyone concerned. We, the citizens of twin cities firmly believe in the administrative capabilities of Hon.Commissioner, Mr.Manivannan Ponnaiah and putforth our staunch demand to continue him in the same responsibilities of Hon.Commissioner, HDMC, for an additional term.

Unequivocally, we the citizens of Hubli-Dharwad, demand that Mr.Manivannan Ponnaiah be continued as Hon.Commissioner, HDMC with all the due administrative promotions being conferred on him.

Thanking you in anticipation.
