With this petition, we the people of St john's Newfoundland call for shift action in the Metro bus workers strike. We ask that the union and Metro bus speedily return to work and allow us citizens to continue to move about the city as we once did. We also ask the local government to step in and do what it can within it's power to expedite our demands.
Many people have been affected by this lengthy strike including students, those without vehicles and the every day person. We have been forced to walk to our place of employment, school and other destinations through worsening weather.
We recognize this is the worst time of year for anyone to be walking long distances on snow covered streets and in freezing temperatures. Not only has this process left many people in more dangerous situations than normal, but without the proper flow of people the local economy will also suffer.
With these signatures we demand action to be taken and our public transportation returned to the people who need it most.
